More than $55,000 raised for BC Children's Hospital through Legends & Stars

Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed today that $55,190 was raised for community partner BC Children’s Hospital (BCCHF) through this year’s second annual Legends & Stars charity match – an increase of more than $20,000 from the inaugural event in 2017. Participants of this year’s match included Vancouver Canucks legends Daniel and Henrik Sedin, three-time Olympic medalist and figure skating world champion Patrick Chan, cast from popular TV shows Riverdale, Once Upon A Time, The 100, and iZombie, and alumni from the club’s 40+ year history, including the first-ever Whitecaps FC captain in MLS, Jay DeMerit.

Whitecaps FC reveal teams for Saturday's Legends & Stars charity match

Vancouver Whitecaps FC revealed today the teams for Saturday's Legends & Stars charity match at BC Place, in support of BC Children's Hospital. Among the participants on Team Rain include cast from Riverdale and iZombie, three-time Olympic medalist and figure skating world champion Patrick Chan, and Whitecaps FC alumni Davide Chiumiento and Jay Nolly. Team Unity features cast from The 100 and Once Upon A Time, Vancouver Canucks legends Daniel and Henrik Sedin, and former Whitecaps FC captain Jay DeMerit.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin added to roster for Whitecaps FC Legends & Stars charity match

Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Tuesday that Daniel and Henrik Sedin have been added to the roster for the club’s Legends & Stars charity soccer match in support of BC Children’s Hospital, taking place on Saturday, September 15 at BC Place. The Vancouver Canucks legends, who announced their retirement from the National Hockey League in April following illustrious 17-year careers, join a star-studded roster featuring cast from Riverdale, Once Upon A Time, and The 100, three-time Olympic medalist and figure skating world champion Patrick Chan, and alumni from Whitecaps FC’s 40+ year history, including new addition Davide Chiumiento.

Whitecaps FC partner with Pacific Autism Family Network to provide autism toolkits

Vancouver Whitecaps FC have partnered with Pacific Autism Family Network to ensure that attending ‘Caps home matches at BC Place is more comfortable for those with autism and their families. Beginning at tomorrow’s home match versus New York Red Bulls, toolkits will be available in-stadium to help improve the match day experience for those with autism and their families.

#JeanUp this Friday at BC Place

It's time to #JeanUp in support of BC Children's Hospital. Vancouver Whitecaps FC will hold the club's annual Jeans Day match this Friday, April 27 when the 'Caps take on Real Salt Lake at BC Place (7:30 p.m. PT kickoff). Wear your jeans to the match to show your support for BC's kids! Fans will be able to purchase a Jeans Day button or lapel pin at ‘Caps Kickoff or on the concourse. All proceeds will be donated to BC Children’s Hospital as part of Jeans Day on May 3.

Whitecaps FC unite with supporters' groups to launch Kid Captain of the Match program

Vancouver Whitecaps FC have united with the Vancouver Southsiders, Curva Collective, and Rain City Brigade to honour a “Kid Captain” at every home match in 2018. The Kid Captain of the Match program is a joint effort between the club and its supporters’ groups to honour children battling health conditions and/or those who have made a positive impact in their community. Each match, a new Kid Captain will be recognized prior to kickoff in the supporters’ section, where a representative from one of the supporters’ groups will place a scarf around their neck.

Whitecaps FC 'Sleep Out' and raise over $20,000 for homeless youth and Covenant House Vancouver

On Thursday, February 15, eight Vancouver Whitecaps FC staff participated in the second annual Covenant House Vancouver Young Professionals Sleep Out to support homeless youth. With just a sleeping bag and a piece of cardboard, the ‘Caps staff members each found a piece of pavement on the streets of downtown Vancouver and settled in for a cold, rainy night. But one night on the street is nothing compared to the daily reality that some youth face.

2018 Community Match Nights

Vancouver Whitecaps FC supports the club’s community partners through a variety of events and initiatives each year. Below are some of the key dates during the upcoming 2018 season. Every April, Whitecaps FC participates in Daffodil Month to show support for Canadians living with cancer. On Friday, April 13 as the 'Caps take on Los Angeles FC, fans can purchase a daffodil pin at the match with all funds donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Carl Valentine to participate in Covenant House Sleep Out to raise funds for homeless youth

On Thursday, November 16, Whitecaps FC legend and club ambassador Carl Valentine will participate in the Covenant House Sleep Out: Executive Edition. Sleep Out events are held annually in major cities across North America to raise awareness and funds for youth homelessness and Covenant House. Over 40 local executives, leaders and public figures will participate in the Vancouver Sleep Out event.
